You Could Do It Wrong

You might have heard of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or CPR, before. While it’s common knowledge that it’s important to know how to perform CPR in the event of an emergency, did you know it’s also important to learn the correct techniques? This is especially true if you’re a first responder or work in the healthcare field. Aside from knowing how to properly perform CPR, you should also know the correct methods for performing it! Enrolling in CPR classes can be a life-saver. So take the time to educate yourself below! Here are the most common mistakes you wouldn’t want to make, and how to avoid them.

Pushing the Rescuers Hand

Instead of pushing on the rescuer’s hand, you should be pushing on the center of their chest. While chest compressions are important, you should also remember that the rescuer’s hand is where the heart is and is one of the most effective ways to cause blood to flow. You should also make sure that the rescuer is doing the compressions themselves. This can be achieved by keeping them up to a comfortable speed. If they’re not doing the compressions, you should be doing them until they are.

Not Getting Their Blood Pressure

Your first line of defense against fainting and other problems is to keep the blood pressure up by giving special pumps or even your rescuer a special injection. While this is very important, many people forget to check their blood pressure. You should be gently palpating their radial artery in the wrist or the femoral artery in the groin to check their blood pressure.
