Advanced Training for Medical Personnel

What to Expect in ACLS Classes

Medical personnel are trained to act and respond to any medical emergency. ACLS classes are a must for nurses, doctors, paramedics, and respiratory therapists. During these classes, the student will be taught the necessary clinical actions and interventions they must do during a life-threatening medical situation.

Training

ACLS classes give you the skills and tools to know how to support a patient who is undergoing cardiac arrest. ACLS is more advanced and detailed than basic life support (BLS) training. BLS can be useful for every person, but for those with a medical background, ACLS is the more sophisticated training.

Medicine

During a basic first aid class, you will not be taught to administer medications. ACLS training will teach you about different pharmaceutical drugs and how they are used to treat someone who has had a cardiac emergency. You will study these medications, their doses, and the proper way to administer them. You need to have a good knowledge of these medications in order for you to safely deliver the right dosage to each patient you encounter.

Price

ACLS training is more expensive than BLS training because it is more intensive. It gives you the in-depth knowledge medical first-responders need to know in order to save a life.

Equipment

For BLS and ACLS, you will cover how to use an AED or automated external defibrillator. Advanced cardiac life support class will also cover the use of an ECG, IV medications, and intubation to support the airway of a patient.
