Be Prepared for an Emergency

What You Should Know Before Your CPR Training Class

If an accident occurs in front of you, you have to act quickly to help the person. CPR training classes can give you the skills and know-how you need in order to act quickly when faced with an emergency. CPR is performed on an individual who is unconscious or does not have a pulse.

Different Types of Training

There are different kinds of CPR classes. Each training class is targeted to the learners. A basic CPR health class will not be as in-depth as a training class for medical personnel. For those who work in a daycare or school, there’s infant and child CPR. Before you sign up for a class, it is best to determine which type of training program you need.

Finding the Right Class

You should only sign up for CPR training from qualified instructors. Look for a company that offers training that meets the standards of the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. These two institutions stand out because of their elite training standards.

Questions to Ask

Before you enroll for a class, ask about their rates and whether they offer hands-on training. The skills training is important. There should be a mannequin available for each student to be able to practice the proper technique to do chest compressions. There should be a test and a certificate or some form of documentation that says you completed the program.
