Benefits of an ACLS Class!

ACLS for You

When you want to learn about how to save a life from sudden cardiac arrest, or CPR, you should take an Acls class. However, if you want to learn about the actual science behind what you’re doing, you will need to get a BLS class. ACLS stands for Advanced Cardiac Life Support. BLS stands for Basic Life Support. The difference between the two is that ACLS deals with advanced techniques when to use them in certain situations, while BLS is more of a refresher course on CPR and other first aid techniques. It is important to learn how to respond to someone having a cardiac arrest since it is a sure way to save their life. However, there are numerous other reasons to take an ACLS class. For example, by getting one you will be able to learn about the following:

Airway management

If someone has a cardiac arrest, it is critical to ensure they don’t aspirate any vomit or saliva. This can be done by maintaining a patent airway, which is something you will learn about in a BLS class. You will also learn about the great importance of maintaining circulation to the brain and heart when someone has a cardiac arrest. This is done by providing adequate blood flow and pressure.

Breathing

You will then learn about the importance of ventilation in situations where someone has a cardiac arrest. Ventilation will be provided through bags that you place over their noses and mouths. You will also learn about the right techniques when performing CPR. This is achieved by starting with rescue breathing, followed by chest compressions, and finally mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
