The Cost of Knowing How to Save Lives
Today, many CPR training courses are “blended,” which means a substantial part of the instruction occurs online. However, instructor-led & traditional course training which allows participants to complete the coursework in one setting may also be available for larger groups or corporate settings. Either way, once you’ve completed the required lessons and passed the accompanying skills, you’ll complete your certification with hands-on, in-person training.
The most common topics in a CPR training course include how to determine a sudden cardiac arrest, understanding the links in the chain of survival; the characteristics of high-performance CPR; the pivotal importance of personal standard precautions and safety; the steps to assess an unresponsive patient; how to use an AED on an adult, child, or infant; how to place an unresponsive but breathing patient in the recovery position; and how to properly recognize and provide treatment and care for a choking adult, child, or infant.
As part of your First Aid and CPR Training Certification, you will first have to learn what your role as a provider is. As with professional CPR training, you’ll also learn how to determine an emergency, why it’s very important to offer to help, how to move an injured patient safely and effectively, and the vital role of standard precautions and protective barriers. You’ll also learn how to conduct primary medical assessments on responsive and unresponsive patients which will, in turn, help you determine the best form of treatment.
